Notespark is concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your personally identifiable information. This policy outlines the information we collect, how we use it, and the policies surrounding how that information is to be used.
What we collect, and why
When you register at notespark.com, we collect personal information that consists of a username and an email address.
Examples of how this information is used includes, but is not limited to, communicating with you if a new note is shared with you, communicating important information about the service (such as material changes to the terms of service or privacy policy), for customer support, and for retrieving lost passwords.
In order to present times in your own timezone, the Notespark website will attempt to discover your timezone through JavaScript.
We set and retrieve cookies in order to provide a smoother user experience
We automatically receive and record information on our server logs from your browser, including your IP address, Notespark cookie information, the page you request and how long and often you visit a given page.
We do not currently collect other personal information such as names, photographs, contact information, etc.
Aggregate information, such as the percentage of people who use a specific feature, is also collected. We use this information to help us improve the Notespark website and iPhone application.
Your data
As outlined in the terms of service, we do not claim any intellectual property rights over the information in your notes.
When you use the sharing feature to share notes with others, you are consenting to allowing others to view the information in your shared notes on the notespark.com website or the Notespark iPhone application. If you need to be more specific about the intellectual property rights surrounding the information in your shared notes, it is your responsibility to make these claims explicit.
While we provide a moderate level of security around your information, we do not expect or allow you to store highly sensitive information such as bank account information, passwords, or social security numbers on the notespark.com website or the Notespark iPhone application. Doing so is a violation of our terms of service.
Sharing and disclosure
The information you provide us will not be shared, sold, or rented to other organizations for any purpose, except to provide services that you have specifically requested, when we have your permission, or under the following circumstances:
- if we need to share your information in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving threats to the physical safety of any person, violation of the terms of service, or otherwise as required by law; or
- if Metaspark or Notespark is acquired by or merged with another company. In this event, you will be notified of the event before your information is transferred to another company and subject to a different privacy policy.
Your email address will never be displayed to other Notespark users unless that user has typed in your email address explicitly. Sharing a note with another user does not allow that user to see your email address.
Your username will, of course, be visible to other users of Notespark.
Children
The notespark.com website is not intended for children under the age of 13. If a parent or other guardian believes that his or her child has submitted personal information to notespark.com, please contact us at the email address below.
Changes in privacy policy
If this privacy policy changes, updates will always be posted to this page. We will notify you of any significant modifications to the way personal information is collected or handled through a prominent notice on the Notespark website or by sending a notice to the email account you used to register with us.
